Getting from Edinburgh Airport (EDI) to Stirling takes about 40 min by car on an empty road (40–50 min in heavy traffic) over 46 km via M9. Our private transfer costs €150 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €210 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Edinburgh Airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, with a sign showing your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Stirling is a historic city in central Scotland, dominated by Stirling Castle on a volcanic rock above the old town and the Wallace Monument across the River Forth. The drive from the airport heads north-west along the motorway towards the Forth valley, a fairly direct journey. The old town streets leading up to the castle are narrow and cobbled, and car access is limited. Traffic is usually light, though the motorway junctions can be busy at rush hour.
Stirling's old town climbs the hill from the Corn Exchange and the Tolbooth towards the castle esplanade. The Church of the Holy Rude and the Old Town Jail are on the way up. The railway and bus stations sit in the lower town near the Thistle Shopping Centre. The Wallace Monument and Bannockburn visitor centre are a short drive away. Hotels are in the lower town, on the old-town hill and around the university campus, and parking is limited near the castle.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport. The usual route is the tram or Airlink 100 into Edinburgh and a train to Stirling station.
