Heidelberg from Frankfurt Airport (FRA) by private transfer: €210 per car (1–3 people) or €260 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 82 km via A 5, roughly 1h when traffic is light and 60–80 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2), after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Heidelberg is about 90 km south of the airport. The drive uses the A5 motorway southwards past Darmstadt and Weinheim, then the A656 into the city, in about 60 to 70 minutes. The A5 is busy at rush hours and has regular roadworks. Heidelberg has a low-emission zone in the centre, and the old town with the Hauptstraße is mostly pedestrian.
The old town of Heidelberg stretches along the Neckar below the castle ruins. The Hauptstraße is one of the longest pedestrian streets in Germany, running from the Bismarckplatz to the Karlstor, with the Marktplatz, the Heiliggeistkirche and the Old Bridge on the way. Most hotels are in the old town or around the main station, about 2 km west of the Bismarckplatz. The car cannot enter the pedestrian zone, so the driver stops at the nearest open street such as near the Bismarckplatz.
Public transport: No direct service from the regional station; the usual route is by S-Bahn or regional train towards Mannheim or Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and a change to a regional train to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof.
