Marstrand (Koön) from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport (GOT) by private transfer: €120 per car (1–3 people) or €170 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 71 km via E 6 and 40, roughly 1h 10min when traffic is light and 70–90 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Göteborg Landvetter terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, with a sign showing your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Marstrand is a small island town on Sweden's west coast, known for sailing and its hilltop Carlsten Fortress. The island itself is car-free, so cars stop on the neighbouring island of Koön, where there is a parking area beside the ferry quay, and a short passenger ferry crosses to Marstrand. The drive from the airport heads west through Kungälv, then follows the coast road to Koön. The ferry crossing is quick but luggage has to be carried or taken by trolley.
Marstrand's compact centre consists of a harbour lined with wooden houses, restaurants and the yacht quay, with the fortress on the hill above. All hotels and homes are on the island, a short walk from the ferry landing. The Marstrand Regatta and other sailing events in July make the island very crowded, and ferry queues build up. Koön has the car park, a few shops and a view over the sound. Carlsten Fortress offers guided tours in summer.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport was. The usual route is the airport coach to Gothenburg and then a regional bus towards Koön and the Marstrand ferry; check Västtrafik for connections.
