Makadi Bay is a resort strip of large all-inclusive hotels on the Red Sea coast south of Hurghada, with sandy beaches and a coral reef close to shore. The drive follows the coastal highway towards Safaga, and is reasonably quick since the airport lies on the same side. Hotel entrances are set well back from the road behind security gates, so the driver goes in to the hotel reception. Some hotels have a separate entrance for the beach side.
Makadi Bay is a string of large resorts built along a flat, sandy shoreline, with a few kilometres between the first and the last hotels. Each hotel is self-contained, with its own beach, pools and reef access. Shops and restaurants outside the hotels are limited, with the Makadi Heights development nearby. The reef lies close to the shore and the water is calm. Winters are warm, while from June to September the heat is intense and humidity is moderate.
