Getting from Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD) to Segovia takes about 1h 10min by car on an empty road (70–90 min in heavy traffic) over 106 km via AP-61 and A-6. Our private transfer costs €160 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €230 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal where your flight lands (T1, T2, T3 or T4), after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, with a sign showing your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Segovia is a UNESCO city about 100 km north-west of the airport, known for its Roman aqueduct, the Alcázar and the Gothic cathedral on the Plaza Mayor. The route is the M-40, the A-6, then the AP-6 toll road through the Guadarrama tunnel and the AP-61 to Segovia. Snow can affect the mountain section in winter. The aqueduct area and the old town are pedestrian or restricted, and the roast suckling pig (cochinillo) restaurants fill up at weekends.
Segovia's old town runs along a ridge, from the Alcázar at the western tip, past the Gothic cathedral on the Plaza Mayor, to the Roman aqueduct at the Plaza del Azoguejo on the eastern edge. The aqueduct is about 28 m high and stands dry and mortar-free. The Jewish quarter and the Romanesque churches lie on the northern slope. Segovia-Guiomar station is a few kilometres outside town and is linked by bus. Winters are cold and sometimes snowy, and cochinillo restaurants are fullest on Saturdays and Sundays.
Public transport: No direct service from the airport; go to Chamartín (Cercanías C-1 from T4) and take the Avant to Segovia-Guiomar, a bus ride from the old town.
