Getting from Munich Airport (MUC) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen takes about 1h 35min by car on an empty road (1h 35min – 1h 55min in heavy traffic) over 136 km via A 95 and A 92. Our private transfer costs €310 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €380 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2), after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is in the Bavarian Alps, about 110 km south-west of Munich airport. The drive uses the A92, the A99 ring and the A95 motorway south via Starnberg to Eschenlohe, then the B2, taking around 1 hour 20 minutes. Traffic on the A95 is heavy on summer and winter weekends, and the way back to Munich on Sunday evening is slow. Winter equipment is required in the snow.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen consists of two historic villages, Garmisch and Partenkirchen, joined into one municipality. The Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain, is reached by the cog railway from the Garmisch station, and the Olympic ski jump is on the edge of Partenkirchen. The Partnach gorge lies 3 km south. Hotels are around the centres and the station. Ludwigstrasse in Partenkirchen is partly pedestrian, so the car stops at the nearest open street.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport; the usual route is by S-Bahn to Munich Hauptbahnhof and a Deutsche Bahn regional train (via Murnau) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
