Tübingen from Stuttgart Airport (STR) by private transfer: €120 per car (1–3 people) or €170 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 36 km via B 27, roughly 30 min when traffic is light and 30–45 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at (Terminal 1, 2, 3 or 4), after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Tübingen is a university town on the Neckar river, about 30 km south of Stuttgart airport. The drive uses the B27 southwards past Filderstadt and Waldenbuch, taking about 30 minutes. The B27 is busy at rush hours. The old town is a pedestrian zone with steep lanes, so the car stops at the nearest permitted street, such as near the Neckar bridge or the Nonnenhaus car park.
Tübingen's old town climbs a hill above the Neckar, with half-timbered houses, the market square with its town hall and the Hölderlin Tower on the riverbank. The Stocherkahn punt boats operate on the river in summer, and the Schloss Hohentübingen castle stands at the top of the hill. The main station is about 10 minutes' walk from the old town. The lanes are cobbled and steep, so the car stops at the edge.
Public transport: No direct service from the airport station; the usual route is by S-Bahn to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof and a regional train (Neckar-Alb line) to Tübingen Hauptbahnhof, or a regional bus.
