Getting from Bordeaux Mérignac Airport (BOD) to Saint-Émilion takes about 50 min by car on an empty road (50–65 min in heavy traffic) over 61 km via N 89 and A 630. Our private transfer costs €140 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €200 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Mérignac terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Saint-Émilion is a medieval hill town in the Libournais vineyards, 40 km east of Bordeaux, listed by UNESCO for its vineyard landscape and monolithic church carved from limestone. The route runs via the rocade and the D936 towards Libourne and then local roads. The village centre is a steep, cobbled pedestrian zone, and vehicles stop at the car parks outside the ramparts. Vineyard châteaux around the village are on small private roads, and the grape harvest in September brings tractors and slower traffic.
The village is built on a limestone slope, and its steep cobbled streets, such as the Rue de la Cadène, run down from the Place du Marché to the monolithic church and its bell tower. The Tour du Roi and the Collégiale stand within the ramparts, and the tourist office is on the main square. Vineyards surround the village on all sides, and wine shops and macaron bakers line the lanes. Visitors should expect to walk uphill with luggage. Spring and early autumn are the busiest seasons, and the village is quieter in winter.
Public transport instead: SNCF TER Nouvelle-Aquitaine train TER from Bordeaux Saint-Jean (after tram A from the airport) to Saint-Émilion — about 35–45 min, several trains a day, 1 change.
