's-Hertogenbosch, usually called Den Bosch, is the capital of North Brabant and the birthplace of the painter Hieronymus Bosch. It lies about 35 km north of Eindhoven Airport, reached via the A2 motorway. The old town has a ring of canals and ramparts, the St John's Cathedral on the Markt and the boat trips along the Binnendieze; the heart is largely pedestrian, so the driver uses the closest accessible street.
