Getting from Faro Airport (FAO) to Vilamoura takes about 35 min by car on an empty road (35–50 min in heavy traffic) over 28 km via EN 125. Our private transfer costs €65 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €95 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport's single terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, with a sign showing your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Vilamoura is a purpose-built resort around Europe's largest marina, about 25 km west of the airport, with golf courses, a casino and the Praia da Marina. The route uses the A22 and the N125 turn-off. The area is quiet outside the summer, and in high season the roundabouts near the marina and Quarteira are congested. The marina promenade is pedestrian, so the car stops at the approach roads.
Vilamoura is centred on its marina, which has restaurants and boat tours, and the Praia da Marina below it. The Cerro da Vila archaeological site holds Roman ruins, while golf courses such as Victoria and Laguna run inland. The nearby Quarteira promenade is a long beach town with a weekly market. Hotels and villas are spread over a large estate and are often several kilometres from the marina, so check the address before arrival. The season is busiest from May to October, with golf continuing through winter.
Public transport: No direct airport service; the Faro urban bus to the bus terminal and a regional bus to Vilamoura are the usual combination.
