Ostend from Brussels Airport (BRU) by private transfer: €380 per car (1–3 people) or €470 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 122 km via E40 and R0, roughly 1h 20min when traffic is light and 1h 20min – 1h 40min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the main Brussels Airport terminal building, just after the baggage reclaim and customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Ostend is the largest town on the Belgian coast, about 120 km from Brussels Airport. The route follows the E40 motorway west, passing Brussels, Ghent and Bruges before reaching the sea. Ostend has a long promenade, a harbour with fishing boats and the Kursaal casino near the beach. The Kusttram runs along the whole coast, from De Panne to Knokke-Heist. On summer weekends the E40 near the coast is slow in both directions, especially on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.
The centre of Ostend lies between the harbour and the beach, and it takes about fifteen minutes to walk from the railway station to the seafront. The promenade runs past the Kursaal, and the Royal Galleries, a covered colonnade, stands near the racecourse. The Mercator, a three-masted sailing ship, is moored in the harbour and can be visited. The Fort Napoleon and the Mu.ZEE art museum are among the sights, and the James Ensor House stands in the old town. July and August are crowded, and in winter the coast is windswept.
Public transport instead: SNCB/NMBS train IC from Brussels Airport-Zaventem station (change at Brussels-Midi or Brussels-Central) to Oostende — about 1h 45min – 2h 5min, hourly or more, 1 change.
