Getting from Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) to Kinderdijk takes about 30 min by car on an empty road (30–40 min in heavy traffic) over 33 km. Our private transfer costs €75 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €110 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the airport's small single terminal, after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Kinderdijk is a UNESCO World Heritage polder landscape with 19 historic windmills, built to drain the Alblasserwaard, about 15 km south-east of Rotterdam. The route from the airport runs via Rotterdam, then the A15 and N210 or via the Krimpenerwaard towards Alblasserdam. The windmill area is a car-free zone: vehicles stop at the visitor car park, and the path along the water is on foot or bike. One mill is open as a museum on set days, and the site is busy in spring and summer.
The Kinderdijk mills are laid out along two long canals, Nederwaard and Overwaard, with a footpath that runs along the dike between them. From the Visitor Centre it is a walk of about ten to fifteen minutes to the first mills, and the paths are shared with cyclists. The village of Kinderdijk has a few cafés and a pumping station near the entrance. The best light comes in the early morning and late afternoon, and in winter the site is quiet and opening hours of the buildings are shorter.
Public transport instead: Rotterdam Waterbus water bus Waterbus 202 / 203 from Rotterdam Centrum area (Erasmusbrug) to Kinderdijk — about 30–45 min, approximately hourly, 2 changes. No direct public transport; bus 33 to Rotterdam, then the Waterbus to Kinderdijk.
