Alaçatı is a stone-built village on the Çeşme peninsula, known for its restored Greek houses, boutique hotels and windsurfing at nearby Alaçatı Bay. The drive from the airport follows the Izmir-Çeşme motorway west and turns off before Çeşme. The village centre has narrow lanes with limited vehicle access, particularly in the evenings and at weekends, so the driver stops at the nearest permitted road. Summer weekends bring crowds and traffic queues on the peninsula.
Alaçatı's old centre is made of narrow cobbled streets with stone houses, small hotels, restaurants and shops selling local herbs. The windmills on the hill above the village are a landmark, and the Alaçatı bay for windsurfing lies a few kilometres to the south.
