The road follows the Ma-1 motorway out of Palma. Weekends and the high season bring late-night noise and traffic in the Punta Ballena area. The nearby beaches of Palmanova and Santa Ponça are quieter.
Magaluf has a single curved beach, backed by a promenade and the Punta Ballena street, a short strip of bars and clubs that runs uphill from the sand. Hotels and apartments stand along the seafront and in the streets behind, with many within a five-minute walk of the beach. Aqualand Magaluf, a water park, and the Western Water Park are close to the centre. The resort is lively between May and October, and very quiet in winter.
