Sóller is a town in a valley of orange and lemon groves on Mallorca's north-west coast, about 35 km from the airport, with a historic tram to Port de Sóller and the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO landscape, behind it. The road goes through the Sóller tunnel on the Ma-11, which is tolled, or the old mountain road with many hairpin bends. Cyclists use the old road in spring and autumn. The centre around the Plaça de la Constitució is largely pedestrian.
Sóller lies in a valley with orange and lemon groves, ringed by the Tramuntana mountains. The town centre is the Plaça de la Constitució, with the Sant Bartomeu church and the railway station beside it, and the tram to Port de Sóller leaves from the same area. Port de Sóller is a horseshoe-shaped harbour, about 5 km away, with a beach promenade, restaurants and boat trips. Fornalutx and Deià are nearby mountain villages. Winters are mild but wetter, and the oranges are harvested between December and March.
Public transport instead: Ferrocarril de Sóller train Palma - Sóller from Palma, Plaça d'Espanya area to Sóller, several a day, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport; take the A1 bus to Plaça d'Espanya and the historic Palma - Sóller train (or a TIB bus).
