On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the south hall of the passenger terminal at Podgorica Airport, just after baggage reclaim and customs, holding a sign with your name. Virpazar is a small lakeside village on the western shore of Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans and a national park, about 23 km south-west of the airport. The road crosses the Zeta plain and runs along the northern edge of the lake on a long causeway across the marshes before reaching the village. The same road continues through the Sozina tunnel to the coast at Sutomore.
The village centre is a small square by the stone bridge over the Crmnica river, with the harbour for boat trips on the lake right next to it. Guesthouses and family wineries of the Crmnica valley lie in the surrounding villages within a few kilometres. The railway station sits beside the main road at the edge of the village. Most visitors come between spring and autumn, when boat trips through the water lilies and birdwatching on the lake are possible.
Public transport instead: BTC Zeta, MS Tours, Zejdin bus airport bus from Podgorica Airport bus stop (in front of the terminal) to Podgorica Central Bus Station (then train from the adjacent railway station to Virpazar), 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Virpazar; take an airport bus to Podgorica Central Bus Station and a ZPCG train on the Podgorica - Bar line from the railway station next door to Virpazar.
