Getting from Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) to Ranua Wildlife Park takes about 1h 15min by car on an empty road (1h 15min – 1h 35min in heavy traffic) over 91 km via 78 and 4. Our private transfer costs €250 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €310 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Rovaniemi Airport terminal, after baggage reclaim, with a sign showing your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Ranua Wildlife Park is a zoo in the municipality of Ranua, south-east of Rovaniemi, specialising in Arctic animals such as polar bears, lynx, wolverines and moose. The drive from the airport heads south-east along the main road from Rovaniemi, mostly through forest, and takes noticeably longer than the other Rovaniemi routes. In winter, roads are snow-packed and ice is normal; in summer, midnight sun makes driving easy through the evening. The zoo has a car park at the entrance.
The park has a walking route through enclosures for Arctic animals, with a cafe, a shop and a restaurant near the entrance. Polar bears are among the best-known residents. The park is open year-round, with longer hours in winter holiday weeks and in summer. Ranua village has a few shops and a small selection of accommodation. The Ranua area is quiet, forested and flat. Winter visits often combine with snowmobile and sleigh activities in the area.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport was confirmed; the park is a long drive south-east of Rovaniemi, and public bus options should be checked with Matkahuolto.
