Rovaniemi → city centre · about 9 km · about 10 min · fixed price €80 per vehicle.
Price calculated. Change the date or destination if you like.
A private transfer from Rovaniemi Airport (RVN) to Rovaniemi city centre costs €80 per car for 1–3 passengers and €110 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 9 km via 4; the drive takes about 10 min with clear roads, so plan on 10–20 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Rovaniemi Airport terminal, after baggage reclaim, with a sign showing your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland, at the confluence of the Kemijoki and Ounasjoki rivers, just south of the Arctic Circle. The airport is a few minutes north of the centre, so the transfer is short and passes Santa Claus Village on the way. The town centre was rebuilt after the Second World War on a reindeer-antler plan by Alvar Aalto, and streets are wide. Winter snow is normal, and drivers use winter tyres. Roads are busiest in December, when Christmas visitors arrive.
The centre sits on the south bank of the Kemijoki, with Lordi's Square and the main shopping streets of Koskikatu and Valtakatu. The Arktikum science museum and the Lapland Museum stand beside the river at the north end. Most hotels are in the centre or along the riverfront, and Santa Claus Village is a few kilometres north on the way from the airport. The Ounasvaara hill, with ski slopes, lies across the river. December is the peak season; winter aurora tours depart from hotels in the evenings.
