Hallstatt from Salzburg Airport (SZG) by private transfer: €170 per car (1–3 people) or €240 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 79 km via A10 and B166, roughly 1h 15min when traffic is light and 1h 15min – 1h 35min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Hallstatt is a lakeside village in the Salzkammergut, about 75 km south-east of the airport. The drive uses the A1 west motorway and then the B158 and B145 via Bad Ischl, in about 1 hour 15 minutes. The final road runs through a tunnel above the lake. Cars are not allowed in the village centre for non-residents, and the car parks are on the edge of the village. In summer and at the weekend the approach queues.
Hallstatt is a UNESCO World Heritage village on the western shore of Lake Hallstatt, with the church tower and the market square at its centre. The salt mine above the village is reached by a funicular, and the Skywalk viewing platform is at the top. A ferry from the railway station on the opposite shore crosses the lake. The village is small and crowded with day-trippers from mid-morning. The car stops at the car park, and the last stretch is on foot.
Public transport: No direct service from the airport; the usual route is trolleybus 2 to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and then a Postbus or train via Bad Ischl to Hallstatt.
