Zagreb → Plitvice Lakes: key facts

Plitvice Lakes from Zagreb Airport (ZAG) by private transfer: €280 per car (1–3 people) or €340 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 144 km via D1 and A1, roughly 2h 15min when traffic is light and 2h 15min – 2h 50min when it is not.

Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is about 130 km south of Zagreb airport. The route follows the A1 motorway towards Split to the Karlovac area and then the D1 road through Slunj, taking about 1 hour 45 minutes. The A1 is a toll motorway. In winter, the D1 over the Lika hills can have snow, and the park roads may need winter equipment. The park has two entrances, Entrance 1 and Entrance 2.

Plitvice has sixteen terraced lakes linked by waterfalls and wooden walkways, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking routes inside the park take from 2 to 6 hours, and boats and electric buses connect the lakes. Entrance 1 leads to the Big Waterfall (Veliki slap), and Entrance 2 is nearer to the upper lakes. Tickets are bought at the entrances, and the car stops at the entrance car parks. In winter parts of the paths can be icy.

Public transport: No direct public service from the airport; the usual route is via Zagreb bus station and an intercity coach to Plitvice Lakes.
