Getting from Brindisi Airport (BDS) to Ostuni takes about 40 min by car on an empty road (40–55 min in heavy traffic) over 40 km via SS379. Our private transfer costs €120 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €170 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the single passenger terminal at Brindisi Airport (Aeroporto del Salento), just after the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Ostuni is the 'White Town' of the upper Salento, an old town of whitewashed houses on a hill a few kilometres inland from the Adriatic, about 35 km north-west of the airport. The road follows the SS379 dual carriageway towards Bari and then climbs to the town through olive groves with centuries-old trees. The hilltop old town has narrow stepped lanes and a limited traffic zone, so the driver stops at the edge, usually near Piazza della Libertà.
Piazza della Libertà, with the column of Sant'Oronzo, is the meeting point between the old town and the newer streets. From there lanes climb to the late Gothic cathedral at the top of the hill, with its rose window. Many hotels and holiday homes are in restored farmhouses (masserie) in the countryside around the town. The coast of Ostuni, with Villanova, Costa Merlata and Rosa Marina, is about 7-10 km away, and Ostuni railway station is in the plain about 3 km below the town. Summer evenings and August are the busiest time.
Public transport instead: STP Brindisi bus AP (Aeroporto - Stazione FS - Costa Morena) from Brindisi Airport (Papola Casale) to Brindisi railway station (then regional train to Ostuni) — about 10–15 min, €1.10 single ticket, every 30 min, about 05:00-00:15, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport to Ostuni; take the STP AP bus to Brindisi railway station and a regional train towards Bari to Ostuni station, which lies below the town.
