Getting from Burgas Airport (BOJ) to Nesebar takes about 40 min by car on an empty road (40–55 min in heavy traffic) over 33 km via 9. Our private transfer costs €55 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €80 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the public arrivals hall of the Burgas Airport passenger terminal, after baggage claim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Nesebar sits on the southern side of the Sunny Beach bay, made up of a modern town on the mainland and the old town on a small rocky peninsula. The route from the airport follows the coastal road north past Pomorie and Ravda before turning towards the town. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, joined to the mainland by a narrow isthmus with a wooden windmill near its landward end. In summer the approach to the isthmus and the car parks at its entrance are busy for most of the day.
The old town of Nesebar is packed with medieval churches, among them the ruined church of Saint John Aliturgetos on the southern shore, as well as wooden houses on stone ground floors and narrow cobbled lanes. Vehicle access to the peninsula is restricted, so drop-offs for the old town are usually made at the entrance by the isthmus. The new town on the mainland has most of the larger hotels, the town beaches and the bus station, and it runs on into the southern end of Sunny Beach.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport is listed by the airport operator; bus line 15 goes to the central bus station in Burgas, where buses leave for the resorts, but no official timetable or fare for the onward trip was.
