Pickup: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport terminal, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. The booking includes flight monitoring and an hour of free waiting from touchdown; your bags are loaded for you.
Sölden is a glacier ski resort at the top of the Ötztal valley, about 80 km from the airport. The route follows the A12 to the Ötztal exit and then the Ötztal Straße (B186) for 40 km up the valley, in about 1 hour 20 minutes. The valley road is a two-lane mountain road with tunnels. In winter, chains may be needed, and the upper valley has avalanche-prone sections.
Sölden lies at about 1,380 metres, with the Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch lifts leaving from the village, and the Ötztal glacier road continues up to the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers. Hotels are spread along the main street, and the central part is a pedestrian zone in winter. The car stops at the nearest open point and hotel shuttles or luggage carts handle the last stretch. In summer the Ötztal is a popular hiking area.
Public transport: No direct service from the airport; the usual route is via Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof and a train to Ötztal Bahnhof followed by a regional bus up the Ötztal valley to Sölden.
