On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the single passenger terminal at Jerez Airport, just after the exit from baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
El Puerto de Santa María lies at the mouth of the Guadalete river on the Bay of Cádiz and is one of the three towns of the sherry triangle, together with Jerez and Sanlúcar. The drive from the airport heads south on the A-4, bypassing Jerez, and leaves the motorway at the El Puerto junctions. It is a short run on dual carriageway for most of the way. In July and August, and on summer weekends, traffic builds up towards the beaches and the marina.
The historic centre sits along the river, with the Castle of San Marcos, the Iglesia Mayor Prioral and the Ribera del Marisco seafood strip close together, and several sherry bodegas in the surrounding streets. Beaches are spread on both sides: Valdelagrana to the south-east towards Puerto Real, and La Puntilla, Puerto Sherry marina and Vistahermosa to the west on the road to Rota. A passenger catamaran crosses the bay to Cádiz from the river quay.
Public transport instead: Renfe Cercanías Cádiz train C-1 from Aeropuerto de Jerez station to El Puerto de Santa María station — about 19 min, several departures a day, 365 days a year. Renfe Media Distancia train Seville–Cádiz from Aeropuerto de Jerez station to El Puerto de Santa María station — about 17 min, 8 stops a day at the airport. Consorcio de Transportes Bahía de Cádiz (Transportes Generales Comes) bus M-052 from Aeropuerto bus stop to El Puerto de Santa María, from the airport Monday to Friday only.
