Getting from Kalamata Airport (KLX) to Pylos takes about 1h 10min by car on an empty road (70–85 min in heavy traffic) over 48 km via EO82 and EO9. Our private transfer costs €90 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €130 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Kalamata airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Pylos is a small harbour town on the southern shore of Navarino Bay in south-west Messinia, about 50 km from the airport. The road runs west from the airport over the hills of inland Messinia through olive groves and villages before descending to the bay; the drive usually takes 45 to 55 minutes. The town is built on a slope above the harbour, so streets in the upper part are steep, and parking near the main square is limited in summer.
Life in Pylos centres on Trion Navarchon Square by the harbour, shaded by plane trees and named after the three admirals of the 1827 Battle of Navarino. Niokastro, an Ottoman fortress with a museum, stands on the hill at the southern edge of town, and the long island of Sfaktiria closes the bay opposite. Hotels are spread through the town and along the coast road, and cars can reach most of them. Gialova and its beach are about 7 km north.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport.
