Kavala → Kavala · about 35 km · about 35 min · fixed price €55 per vehicle.
Price calculated. Change the date or destination if you like.
A private transfer from Kavala Airport (KVA) to Kavala costs €55 per car for 1–3 passengers and €80 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 35 km via A2 and EO2; the drive takes about 35 min with clear roads, so plan on 35–45 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Kavala airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Kavala is the main town of the region, built in an amphitheatre around a bay facing the island of Thassos. The airport lies on the plain near Chrysoupoli, east of the Nestos river, so the drive heads west, either on the Egnatia Odos motorway (A2), a tolled road, or on the older coastal road through Nea Karvali, before descending into town. The distance by road is roughly 25 to 30 km and the trip normally takes 30 to 40 minutes. The last stretch passes through busy city streets, and the seafront is congested on summer evenings.
The old town of Kavala, known as Panagia, covers the rocky peninsula on the east side of the harbour, with the Byzantine fortress at its top, the Imaret and the house of Mehmet Ali. Its lanes are narrow and steep, so cars stop at the edge and the last metres are on foot. The modern centre spreads around Eleftherias Square and the port, where boats leave for Thassos, and the 16th-century Kamares aqueduct crosses the town just above it. Kalamitsa and Batis beaches lie a few kilometres west along the coast road.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport is. The airport's website says the connection to Kavala is by changing at the KTEL Kavala station in Chrysoupoli, with tickets bought from the driver; KTEL Kavala's weekday notice (undated) lists airport departures at 07:45, 11:25 and 14:00 connecting in Chrysoupoli towards Kavala and Keramoti, but its current status is unclear, so check with KTEL Kavala before travelling. Fares are not published.
