Mastichari is a small port village on the north-west coast of Kos, about 8 km from the airport. The drive takes 10 minutes, going north from Andimachia on a quiet road. It is the departure point of the ferry to Kalymnos and Pserimos, so some visitors are travelling to the ferry port. The village streets are narrow, and the beach road can be busy in the evenings.
Mastichari has a long sandy beach, a fishing harbour, a row of tavernas along the waterfront and a quay with ferries and excursion boats to Kalymnos. The village has hotels and apartments mostly along the beach road. The car can drop passengers at the quay or at the hotel entrance. Marmari and Tigaki are to the east along the coast, and the traditional hill village of Antimachia is inland to the south.
