Malta → Valletta · about 8 km · about 15 min · fixed price €30 per vehicle.
Price calculated. Change the date or destination if you like.
A private transfer from Malta Airport (MLA) to Valletta costs €30 per car for 1–3 passengers and €45 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 8 km; the drive takes about 15 min with clear roads, so plan on 15–25 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport's single terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, with a sign showing your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Valletta is the walled capital on a peninsula, only about 8 km from the airport, built by the Knights of St John in the 16th century and listed by UNESCO. The drive is short, via the Marsa and Floriana roads. Private cars are restricted inside the city gate, so the driver stops outside City Gate or on the Floriana side, and you walk in through the new gate by Renzo Piano. Streets in the centre are steep and stepped.
Valletta is a small grid on a ridge between two harbours, about 1 km long. Republic Street runs from City Gate past St John's Co-Cathedral and the Grandmaster's Palace to Fort St Elmo at the tip, with the Upper Barrakka Gardens overlooking the Grand Harbour. Streets are steep and stepped towards the water. Most hotels are small and located in restored townhouses. The area is busiest with cruise visitors on weekday mornings, and quiet in the evening. Festa processions in summer and Carnival in February bring temporary closures.
Public transport instead: Malta Public Transport (Tallinja) bus X4 (express) from Malta airport to Valletta bus terminus — about 25 min, regular daytime service.
