Mykonos airport is about 3 km south-east of Chora (Mykonos Town), so the drive takes 10 minutes along the airport road and the road past Agios Ioannis. Traffic in the town is severe in July and August, especially in the evening, and the car cannot enter the narrow lanes of Chora, which is a maze of whitewashed alleys. Vehicles are usually left at the edge near the port or the Remezzo car park.
Mykonos Town is built around the Old Port, the Little Venice quarter with its waterfront houses, and the row of windmills on the ridge above. Matoyianni street is the main pedestrian lane for shops and restaurants, and the Paraportiani church is near Little Venice. Hotels are scattered between the town and the beaches. The car stops at the entrance of the pedestrian lanes, near the port or the main bus station, and passengers walk with luggage the last few minutes.
