Platis Gialos is a long sandy beach resort on the south coast of Mykonos, about 6 km from the airport and 4 km from Chora. The drive of 10 to 15 minutes follows the Ornos road and then the road across the hills to the bay. The access road down to the beach is narrow and has heavy traffic in summer. The beach is sheltered from the meltemi wind.
Platis Gialos has one wide sandy beach lined with hotels, tavernas and water-sport rentals. Boat services run from here to Paradise, Super Paradise, Paranga and Agrari beaches in the summer season. A bus line links the beach with Chora. Hotels are along the beach road, and the car can stop at their entrances or at the turning area at the top of the beach. The beach is busy at midday in July and August.
