Monaco from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) by private transfer: €70 per car (1–3 people) or €100 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 32 km via A 8, roughly 35 min when traffic is light and 35–50 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal your flight lands at (Terminal 1 or Terminal 2), after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Monaco is a city-state of about 2 km², an enclave on the Mediterranean 20 km east of Nice. The route follows the A8 or the coastal Basse Corniche (N98) with views over Villefranche and Cap-d'Ail. The Monaco Grand Prix in May closes parts of the city and the surrounding roads, and the Grand Prix week sees heavy traffic along the whole coast. There are no routine border checks on the road between France and Monaco. The train station lies beneath the principality, with exits towards Monte-Carlo and the port.
Monaco is built on steep slopes, and its districts are Monte-Carlo, with the Casino Square, the Hôtel de Paris and the Opera, and Monaco-Ville, the old rock with the Prince's Palace and the cathedral. Port Hercule lies between them, with the yachts, and Fontvieille is a newer district reclaimed from the sea. The district of Larvotto has the main public beach. Many connections between levels are by public lifts and escalators. The changing of the guard at the palace takes place at 11:55 every day.
Public transport instead: SNCF TER train TER from Nice-Ville (after tram T2 from the airport) to Monaco-Monte-Carlo — about 20–25 min, every 15-30 min, 1 change.
