Getting from Asturias Airport (OVD) to Avilés takes about 25 min by car on an empty road (25–35 min in heavy traffic) over 18 km via N-632. Our private transfer costs €65 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €95 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the Asturias Airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the customs exit, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Avilés is the closest city to the airport and the shortest of the main routes, about 15 km. The road follows the N-632 east through Piedras Blancas, the main town of Castrillón, then crosses into Avilés along the estuary, with the beach resort of Salinas just off the route. The A-8 motorway is an alternative that skirts the town to the south. The estuary is lined with port and industrial areas before the road reaches the historic centre.
The historic centre of Avilés is known for its arcaded streets, above all Calle Galiana and Calle Rivero, which meet the Plaza de España with the town hall. Several streets of the old town are pedestrian, so the car stops at the nearest point open to traffic. The Parque del Muelle lies next to the centre, and across the estuary stands the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Centre, reached on foot over a footbridge. The Sabugo quarter, the old sailors' district, is a short walk west.
Public transport instead: Alsa bus Aeropuerto de Asturias - Avilés - Gijón - Oviedo (airport bus) from Asturias Airport bus stop to Avilés, approximately every hour, daily between 06:00 and 00:00.
