Golden Beach, Chrysi Akti in Greek, is a long sandy bay on the south-east coast of Paros, between Logaras and Drios. From the airport near Alyki the drive crosses the southern part of the island towards the east coast, around 20 km, and takes roughly half an hour. The beach is known for steady summer winds that bring windsurfers and kitesurfers,. The roads are rural and quiet outside high season.
Hotels, studios and a handful of tavernas line the road behind the sand, with windsurf centres at the beach itself. Nea Chrysi Akti, or New Golden Beach, continues to the south, and the small harbour of Drios with its tavernas is a little further on. To the north, Logaras and the fishing village of Piso Livadi have more shops and cafes. The area is spread out rather than a village, so cars stop at the entrance of each property. Many places to stay open only for the summer season, roughly May to October.
Public transport: No direct airport - Golden Beach service in the official KTEL Paros timetable; the usual route is the airport bus to Parikia and a bus on the Parikia - Drios routes, which stop at Golden Beach.
