Dinard is a seaside resort on the west bank of the Rance estuary, facing Saint-Malo across the water, known for its villas built by British and American visitors from the late 19th century. The route takes the Rennes ring road (N136) and the toll-free D137 towards Saint-Malo, then the D168, which crosses the Rance over the tidal power station dam. In summer, and especially on the dam, traffic towards Dinard and Saint-Malo can be slow.
The centre lies behind the Plage de l'Écluse, the main beach with its seawater pool, casino and striped beach tents. The Promenade du Clair de Lune follows the shore towards the Rance with views of Saint-Malo, and the coastal path continues past the Pointe du Moulinet to the Plage du Prieuré and the Saint-Énogat beach. Many hotels and holiday rentals are in the villa districts above the beaches. In summer, a passenger boat crosses the estuary to Saint-Malo.
