Getting from Rennes Airport (RNS) to Saint-Malo takes about 1h 5min by car on an empty road (65–80 min in heavy traffic) over 77 km via D 137 and N 136. Our private transfer costs €170 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €240 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the terminal at Rennes Bretagne Airport, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Saint-Malo is a walled port town on the Emerald Coast at the mouth of the Rance, once a base for privateers and today a ferry port with links to the Channel Islands and England. From the airport the route joins the Rennes ring road (N136) and then the D137, a toll-free dual carriageway that runs straight north to Saint-Malo. On summer weekends and during the Route du Rhum start, held every four years, traffic into the town and around the port is heavy.
The old town, Intra-Muros, is enclosed by ramparts that can be walked all the way round, with the Saint-Vincent cathedral at its centre. Its narrow streets are largely closed to traffic, so drop-offs are made at the gates, such as Porte Saint-Vincent near the tourist office. The long Sillon beach stretches east towards Paramé, lined with hotels, and the Saint-Servan district lies to the south. The ferry terminal du Naye is a short drive from the walls, and at low tide the Grand Bé island can be reached on foot.
Public transport instead: TER BreizhGo (SNCF) train Rennes – Saint-Malo from Gare de Rennes to Gare de Saint-Malo, about 18 trains a day, fastest about 1 hour, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport. Reach Rennes railway station first (city bus C6 and metro b, or TER from the Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande halt), then take a TER BreizhGo train to Saint-Malo.
