PortAventura World is a large theme park resort between Vila-seca and Salou, about 11 km south of the airport. The drive runs south from Reus across the Camp de Tarragona plain on the C-14 towards Salou and turns off to the resort's own access roads, which lead to the park entrance, the water park and the resort hotels. There are no tolls. On summer mornings and when the park opens for special seasons such as Halloween and Christmas, queues can form on the access roundabouts.
The resort includes PortAventura Park, Caribe Aquatic Park and several themed hotels set around the parks, each with its own entrance and drop-off area, plus a convention centre. The hotels are linked to the park gates by footpaths and internal shuttles. Salou town and the Platja de Llevant are a short drive away, and La Pineda beach lies on the other side of the resort. The parks are open mainly from spring to early January, with closures in late winter.
