Perast is a small historic town on the northern shore of the Bay of Kotor, facing the narrow Verige strait. Although it can be seen across the water from the Tivat side, the road from the airport goes through the Vrmac tunnel to Kotor and then follows the shore of the inner bay north-west through Dobrota and Orahovac, a drive of roughly half an hour. The shore road is narrow in places and passes through several villages, so traffic moves slowly in summer, when tour coaches also use it.
Perast stretches along a single waterfront lane lined with baroque palaces and churches, dominated by the bell tower of Saint Nicholas church. Opposite the town lie two islets: Our Lady of the Rocks, an artificial island with a church, and Saint George with its monastery; small boats to Our Lady of the Rocks leave from the waterfront. The lane along the water is narrow and vehicle access in the town is limited, so drop-offs are usually made at the edges of the town or on the main road above it. Risan, with its Roman mosaics, is a few kilometres further along the bay.
Public transport: No direct public service from the airport; the airport operator publishes no bus service, and buses along the bay road to Perast start from Kotor, so the trip would need a change in Kotor with no confirmed connection times.
