Getting from Vigo Airport (VGO) to Baiona takes about 40 min by car on an empty road (40–50 min in heavy traffic) over 36 km via AG-57. Our private transfer costs €75 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €110 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the single passenger terminal at Vigo-Peinador Airport, just after baggage reclaim and customs, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Baiona is a seaside town at the mouth of the Ría de Vigo, south-west of the city, facing the Cíes Islands. From the airport the route skirts the south of Vigo on the ring roads and continues along the Val Miñor valley through Nigrán, reaching Baiona by the bay. The coastal road through Samil and Canido is a slower, more scenic alternative. In summer, traffic along the Val Miñor beaches and in Baiona itself is noticeably heavier, especially at weekends.
The Monterreal peninsula, enclosed by fortress walls, holds the Parador hotel and a walk around the ramparts. Beside it lie the marina and the harbour, where a replica of the caravel Pinta recalls that the ship brought the first news of the American landfall to Europe in 1493. The small historic centre with its narrow streets sits behind the seafront promenade. Beaches such as Praia da Ladeira lie to the east towards Sabarís, and many apartments and hotels are spread along the bay.
Public transport instead: Vitrasa (Vigo city buses) bus A (Universidade - Aeroporto) from Vigo Airport, bus stop on the outside kerb of the arrivals area to Vigo city centre, on average every 36 min (weekdays, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons), every 60 min on Sunday mornings. No direct public transport from Vigo Airport to Baiona is listed by Aena: city bus line A to Vigo centre, then a regional bus from Vigo to Baiona.
