Pontevedra from Vigo Airport (VGO) by private transfer: €70 per car (1–3 people) or €100 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 32 km via AP-9, roughly 30 min when traffic is light and 30–40 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the single passenger terminal at Vigo-Peinador Airport, just after baggage reclaim and customs, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Pontevedra is the provincial capital, about 30 km north of the airport at the head of its own ria. The usual route joins the AP-9, the toll motorway of the Atlantic Axis, and crosses the Rande bridge high over the narrow strait of the Ría de Vigo before running north past Redondela and Vilaboa. The N-550 national road is a free but slower alternative through several towns. The historic centre of Pontevedra is largely closed to through traffic, so the driver stops at its edge, close to the hotel.
The old town is a compact area of granite squares such as Praza da Ferrería, Praza da Leña and Praza do Teucro, with arcades and terraces. On its edge stands the round Peregrina chapel, the symbol of the city, next to the gardens of Praza da Ferrería. The Basilica of Santa María lies on the western side towards the river, and the Burgo bridge crosses the Lérez to the north. Most hotels are within walking distance of the pedestrian centre; the railway and bus stations are to the south-east.
Public transport instead: Vitrasa (Vigo city buses) bus A (Universidade - Aeroporto) from Vigo Airport, bus stop on the outside kerb of the arrivals area to Vigo-Urzáiz station, on average every 36 min (weekdays, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons), every 60 min on Sunday mornings. Renfe train Atlantic Axis line (Vigo - Pontevedra - Santiago - A Coruña) from Vigo-Urzáiz station (after Vitrasa line A from the airport) to Pontevedra railway station, 1 change. No direct public transport listed by Aena from Vigo Airport to Pontevedra: city bus line A to Vigo-Urzáiz station, then a Renfe train on the Atlantic Axis line.
