Getting from Venice Airport (VCE) to Lake Garda takes about 1h 50min by car on an empty road (1h 50min – 2h 20min in heavy traffic) over 158 km via A4 and A57. Our private transfer costs €370 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €450 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Marco Polo terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Lake Garda lies about 150 km west of Venice, reached by the A4 motorway with exits such as Peschiera del Garda, Sirmione and Desenzano on the southern shore. The lake is shared between Veneto, Lombardy and Trentino, and its eastern shore has Bardolino and Garda. The A4 towards Brescia is crowded at weekends and in August, and the Gardesana road along the lakeside slows to a crawl. Sirmione's medieval centre is a ZTL with a bridge entrance, and cars cannot enter.
The eastern shore of the lake is known for the wine town of Bardolino and the harbour towns of Garda and Lazise, and Malcesine further north has a cable car up Monte Baldo. On the southern shore, Peschiera del Garda stands on the river Mincio with its Venetian walls, and the theme park Gardaland is nearby. Ferries link the lakeside towns from spring, and lemon houses can be seen at Limone on the western shore. Easter to September is the main season, and in winter many services are reduced.
Public transport instead: Trenitalia train Regionale Veloce from Venezia Mestre (after ATVO bus from the airport) to Peschiera del Garda / Desenzano del Garda — about 70–90 min, every 30 min, 1 change.
