Alberobello from Bari Airport (BRI) by private transfer: €170 per car (1–3 people) or €240 per van (4–8), fixed per vehicle and identical to the checkout price. On the road it is 68 km via SS172 and SS100, roughly 1h when traffic is light and 60–75 min when it is not.
Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Bari-Palese terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Alberobello is a Puglian town of whitewashed stone huts with conical roofs called trulli, listed by UNESCO, about 55 km south-east of Bari. The drive follows the SS100 and then provincial roads through olive groves. The Rione Monti and Rione Aia Piccola districts with trulli are pedestrian, and the driver stops at the car parks around the edge. Visits are busiest on summer weekends and at Christmas, when the town is lit up, and the lanes between the trulli are not suited to cars.
Alberobello is small and the trulli districts lie on two hills on either side of the main street. Rione Monti, on the slope to the south-west, has the larger number of trulli, many converted into shops, while Rione Aia Piccola to the north-east is quieter and mostly residential. The Trullo Sovrano is a two-storey trullo open as a museum, and the Belvedere Santa Lucia offers a view over the roofs. The town hall square, Piazza del Popolo, lies in the modern part. Winter is calm, apart from the Christmas lights.
Public transport instead: Ferrovie del Sud Est (FSE) train regional from Bari Centrale (after the airport train) to Alberobello — about 1h 25min – 1h 40min, about hourly, 1 change.
