It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 17 km; the drive takes about 20 min with clear roads, so plan on 20–30 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Bari-Palese terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Bari is the capital of Puglia and a port on the Adriatic, with the medieval old town of Bari Vecchia, the Basilica di San Nicola and the long Lungomare Nazario Sauro. The airport lies about 9 km north-west of the centre and the route uses the SS16 ring road. Bari Vecchia is a ZTL with narrow lanes and a lot of foot traffic, so the driver stops at the nearest permitted street, often on the seafront or near Piazza Mercantile. The Feast of St Nicholas in May brings processions and road closures.
Bari Vecchia, the old town on the headland, holds the Basilica di San Nicola, the Cathedral of San Sabino and the Swabian Castle, and its lanes are a few minutes' walk from the sea. South of it lies the Murat district, laid out on a grid, with Via Sparano as the pedestrian shopping street and the Teatro Petruzzelli nearby. Bari Centrale is on the south side of the Murat district, roughly a kilometre from the old town. The seafront promenades are the Lungomare Nazario Sauro and the Lungomare Imperatore Augusto. Early May is busy for the St Nicholas festival.
Public transport instead: Ferrotramviaria (FNB) train FM2 / airport line from Bari Aeroporto to Bari Centrale — about 15–20 min, every 20-30 min.
