Getting from Biarritz Airport (BIQ) to Saint-Jean-de-Luz takes about 20 min by car on an empty road (20–30 min in heavy traffic) over 16 km via A 63. Our private transfer costs €95 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €140 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits on the arrivals level of the terminal at Biarritz Pays Basque Airport, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a fishing port and resort at the mouth of the Nivelle, about 15 km south-west of the airport and the last large town before the Spanish border. The quickest route joins the A63 motorway, a toll road, and leaves it at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz exits. The coastal D810 is the slower alternative, passing through Bidart and Guethary. In July and August the town entrance and the streets around the port are often congested, especially on market days and weekends.
Place Louis XIV, with its bandstand and the Maison Louis XIV, opens onto the fishing harbour. A few steps away stands the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, where Louis XIV married Maria Theresa of Spain in 1660. Rue Gambetta, the main shopping street, is pedestrian and runs parallel to the curved sandy beach, which is sheltered by sea walls. Across the Nivelle bridge lies Ciboure, and further along the bay the Socoa fort guards the harbour entrance. Most hotels are between the beach and the port, so cars stop on the boulevards around the pedestrian centre.
Public transport instead: TXIK TXAK (Syndicat des mobilités Pays Basque-Adour) bus 3 (Gare de Bayonne – Saint-Jean-de-Luz Halte Routière) from Aéroport de Biarritz stop, airport bus station to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Halte Routière (bus station next to the railway station) — about 31–36 min, €1.40 single ticket, about every 15 min on weekdays, every 20 min on Saturdays, every 30 min on Sundays (timetable 28 September 2026 – 25 June 2027).
