Nora is the headland south of Pula with the remains of a Phoenician and Roman town, including a theatre, baths and mosaics, next to the small church of Sant'Efisio and a sandy beach. The route from the airport follows the SS195 Sulcitana along the coast through Capoterra and Sarroch, past the large refinery, to Pula, and then the road towards the coast for the last few kilometres. Summer weekend traffic builds up on the SS195 near Pula.
The archaeological area occupies the tip of the headland, with the entrance and car park near the beach and the church of Sant'Efisio. Hotels and residences are scattered along the road between Nora and Pula, and the town of Pula, with its main square, shops and restaurants, is about 3 km inland. The resort area of Santa Margherita di Pula starts a few kilometres further south-west along the SS195.
Public transport instead: Trenitalia train Elmas Aeroporto – Cagliari from Elmas Aeroporto station (short walk from the terminal) to Cagliari railway station — about 6 min, €1.30 single ticket. ARST bus 129 Cagliari – Pula – Nora – Chia – Teulada from Cagliari Autostazione ARST (after the train from Elmas Aeroporto to Cagliari) to Nora — about 55–65 min, several runs a day, see the ARST timetable, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport: train to Cagliari, then ARST line 129 (only some runs stop at Nora; others stop in Pula, about 3 km away).
