Meeting point: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the passenger terminal at Cagliari Elmas, after baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. Flight tracking is included, the first hour after landing is free waiting time, and the driver carries your bags to the car.
Villasimius is a seaside town at the south-eastern tip of Sardinia, next to the Capo Carbonara marine protected area. From the airport the route skirts Cagliari and Quartu Sant'Elena and then follows the coastal provincial road SP17 past Geremeas, Torre delle Stelle and Solanas, with many bends above the sea; the inland SS125 is the alternative. In July and August the coast road is busy at weekends, when beach traffic from Cagliari heads east.
The village centre is set slightly inland around Via Roma and the church square, with shops and restaurants, while the resorts and holiday homes are spread along the coast. Simius beach is a short drive south of the centre, Porto Giunco and the Notteri lagoon lie on the way to the cape, and the marina and Campulongu beach are on the western side. Many hotels sit on private roads close to the beaches, where the car can reach the entrance.
Public transport instead: Trenitalia train Elmas Aeroporto – Cagliari from Elmas Aeroporto station (short walk from the terminal) to Cagliari railway station — about 6 min, €1.30 single ticket. ARST bus 101 Cagliari – Villasimius – Costa Rei – S. Vito from Cagliari Autostazione ARST (after the train from Elmas Aeroporto to Cagliari) to Villasimius Via Roma – La Lanterna — about 85–90 min, several runs a day, see the ARST timetable, 1 change. No direct public transport from the airport: train to Cagliari, then ARST bus line 101 from the Cagliari ARST bus station.
