Chania → city centre · about 16 km · about 25 min · fixed price €40 per vehicle.
Price calculated. Change the date or destination if you like.
A private transfer from Chania Airport (CHQ) to Chania city centre costs €40 per car for 1–3 passengers and €100 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 16 km; the drive takes about 25 min with clear roads, so plan on 25–35 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the airport terminal, after baggage reclaim and the exit from customs, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Chania lies on the north coast of Crete, about 15 km from the airport on the Akrotiri peninsula. The drive follows the road past Souda Bay and joins the national road (E75) towards the city, taking around 20 minutes. The old Venetian harbour and the lanes around it are closed to normal traffic or have very narrow streets, so the driver stops at the nearest open road such as the edge of the old town near Plateia 1866 or by the harbour road.
The old town of Chania is built around the Venetian harbour with its lighthouse, the Firkas fortress and the Mosque of the Janissaries. Nearby are the covered Agora market, the Splantzia and Topanas districts and the Venetian shipyards (Neoria). Most hotels are in the old town or along the beach strip of Nea Chora to the west. The main bus station is a few minutes south of the old town on foot. Summer evenings are busy and parking within the old town is almost impossible.
