Getting from Florence Airport (FLR) to Cinque Terre takes about 2h 10min by car on an empty road (2h 10min – 2h 40min in heavy traffic) over 175 km via A11 and A12. Our private transfer costs €380 for a car with 1–3 passengers or €470 for a van with 4–8 — the vehicle price you see is the price you pay at booking.
On arrival: The driver waits in the arrivals area of the Peretola terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. If the flight is late, the driver adjusts to the real landing time; 60 minutes of waiting are included and help with the luggage is part of the service.
The Cinque Terre are five clifftop villages on the Ligurian coast, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, in a UNESCO-listed national park about 150 km from Florence. The drive follows the A11 and A12 motorways and then local roads to the villages. Private cars are not allowed into the villages, and parking is at the edge, for example in La Spezia or above the villages. Between the villages, access is by the Cinque Terre train, a coastal footpath or ferries, with the footpath partly closed in some seasons for repairs.
The villages stand along about 12 km of coast, from Monterosso in the north, which has the longest sandy beach, to Riomaggiore in the south. Vernazza has a small harbour, Corniglia sits on a promontory above the sea and is reached from its station by a stairway of 382 steps or a shuttle bus, and Manarola is known for its terraced vineyards. The railway station of La Spezia is the usual gateway from the south. Spring and autumn are the busiest times, and storms can interrupt boats and paths.
Public transport instead: Trenitalia train Regionale + Cinque Terre line from Firenze Santa Maria Novella (after tram T2 from the airport) to La Spezia Centrale, then Cinque Terre villages — about 2h 30min – 3h, hourly, 2 changes.
