Private transfer, Hannover Airport (HAJ) to Celle: the car (1–3 passengers) is €120 and the van (4–8) is €170, a set price for the vehicle that does not change at checkout. Expect 40 km on the road via L 310 and A 352; about 45 min off-peak, 45–60 min in rush hour.
Pickup: Hannover Airport has three terminals, A, B and C, and the arrivals board shows which one your flight uses. The driver waits on the Arrivals level of that terminal, at the exit from the baggage reclaim area, holding a sign with your name. The booking includes flight monitoring and an hour of free waiting from touchdown; your bags are loaded for you.
Celle is a former ducal residence town on the Aller river, about 40 km north-east of the airport. After a short stretch of the A352 the route continues on country roads north through Fuhrberg and the forests of the northern Hannover region, so most of the trip is off the motorway. It usually takes 40 to 50 minutes, a little longer in the weekday rush hour around Hannover. No toll is charged for cars.
The old town of Celle is made up of several hundred half-timbered houses along streets such as Zöllnerstraße and Schuhstraße, most of them pedestrian, so cars stop at the edge of the centre. The white Ducal Palace with its park and moat stands just west of the old town, and the Lower Saxony State Stud, known for its stallion parades, is in the town. Celle is also a starting point for trips into the Lüneburg Heath. The railway station lies about 1.5 km west of the palace.
Public transport instead: S-Bahn Hannover train S5 from Hannover Flughafen station (basement of Terminal C) to Hannover Hauptbahnhof — about 17–18 min. S-Bahn Hannover train S6 / S7 from Hannover Hauptbahnhof to Celle. No direct public service from the airport; take S-Bahn S5 to Hannover Hauptbahnhof and change to S-Bahn S6 or S7 to Celle (one change).
