Price calculated. Change the date or destination if you like.
A private transfer from Catania Airport (CTA) to Catania city centre costs €45 per car for 1–3 passengers and €55 per van for 4–8. It is a fixed price for the whole vehicle, the same amount you pay when you book. The road distance is 8 km; the drive takes about 20 min with clear roads, so plan on 20–30 min at busy times.
Where the driver waits: The driver waits in the arrivals hall of the Fontanarossa terminal, just after the baggage reclaim, holding a sign with your name. We track your flight and the first 60 minutes after landing are free; the driver helps with your luggage.
Catania is the second city of Sicily, a baroque town rebuilt in black volcanic stone after the 1693 earthquake, below Mount Etna. The airport is about 5 km south of the centre and the route follows the Asse dei Servizi and the coastal road. The historic centre has a ZTL, and the area around Piazza del Duomo and the fish market is pedestrian, so the driver stops at the nearest permitted street. Rush hours slow the ring road, and the Feast of St Agatha in early February closes much of the centre for three days.
The centre is built around Piazza del Duomo with the Fontana dell'Elefante, the symbol of the city, and the Cathedral of Sant'Agata. Behind the cathedral the fish market, La Pescheria, runs every morning. Via Etnea leads north to the Villa Bellini gardens, and Via dei Crociferi is a baroque street of churches. The Ursino Castle and the Teatro Massimo Bellini are also in the old centre. Catania Centrale station lies to the east, near the port, about a kilometre and a half from the Duomo.
Public transport instead: AMT Catania bus Alibus from Aeroporto Fontanarossa to Catania Stazione Centrale — about 15–30 min, €4.00 single ticket, every 25 min approx.
