Traffic builds along the seafront in summer, and the area around the Spianada square and the Old Fortress has narrow streets. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and vehicle access to its central lanes is limited.
Corfu Old Town is built around the Spianada square, the Liston arcade, the Old Fortress and the New Fortress. The lanes of Kampielo, the Venetian-era houses and the churches such as Agios Spyridon are all within a short walk. Most hotels are in the old town, along Garitsa Bay or in the nearby Kanoni and Mon Repos areas. The ferry port is on the north side of the old town. Cars can drop off at the Spianada ring road or the port area, and the rest is on foot.
